I just built my first Approval Process and expected it to be way more complicated than it was.
One of our teams needed a way to flag certain requests for manager sign-off before they moved forward. Turns out, Salesforce has this built-in—and once I mapped it out, it actually made sense.
Things I messed up first:
Forgot to assign an initial submitter
Didn’t define entry criteria tightly enough (it triggered too often)
Overlooked what happens after approval—had to set up a Final Approval Action
Now that it’s running, I’m starting to see real potential. Managers get emails, records get locked during review, and everything gets tracked.
It’s not as flexible as Flow, but it’s perfect for this use case.
