How I Learned to Love Page Layouts

Page Layouts were one of those features I didn’t appreciate until I watched someone struggle to find a field buried at the bottom of a record page.

A good layout = a good user experience. Full stop.

Some lessons I’ve learned:

  • Use Sections to group similar fields (Contact Info, Preferences, Internal Use)

  • Hide fields that don’t matter for that record type or user profile

  • Leverage Record Types to show the right layout for the right kind of record

Pro tip: talk to your users. Seriously. Ask them what they actually need to see. Then tailor the layout accordingly.
